Catherine is a Child & Adolescent Psychodynamic Counsellor & Psychotherapist who trained at Birkbeck, University of London. Her focus is work with adolescents and she has a breadth of experience working as a psychotherapist in a variety of settings for the Brent Centre, including: secondary schools, Youth Offending Service and our In-house provision. Before training as a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist Catherine worked in adult mental health, predominantly with men and women who had experience of hearing voices, both in forensic settings and in the community.
Catherine has experience assessing and working with young people who struggle with self-harm and suicidality, as well as those experiencing anxiety and low mood. Her areas of interest include psychotic functioning and the impact of early trauma on the development of the personality. She enjoys supporting young people to gain a better understanding of their difficulties and the thoughts and feelings which may be underlying them, so that they can begin to address these and move on with their lives.
Catherine is an accredited member of the British Psychoanalytic Council and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
