The Brent Centre for Young People was founded in 1967 by distinguished psychoanalysts Moses and Eglé Laufer and close colleagues.

Moses, Eglé and colleagues recognised that adolescents had different needs to those of children and adults, and would therefore benefit from a specialist mental health service. The Centre was one of the first in the UK to cater specifically for adolescents.

Our vision is to improve young people’s lives so they can manage their challenges now and become happy, healthy adults.

Since 1967, the organisation has grown and developed to become one of the leading providers of psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents. Our clinicians have developed talking therapies which are unique to the Centre such as Adolescent Exploratory Therapy (AET) as well as providing more widely used therapies that include Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Child Psychotherapy, Family Therapy and Parent Support.

Celebrating our 50-year anniversary in 2017 with an international conference, we look forward to continuing our journey and helping more young people in their development.
